I try to make it out every few months to visit my friends who live there and shoot a lot while I’m in town. This time was the shortest amount of time I was there so it was more of a relaxed visit to see friends and do some shoots with them.

I really enjoy this city. The people, the atmosphere, the creativity that flows through me, and making memories and laughing with my friends while I’m here.

My first shoot was with Jordan in an old park that’s pretty vacant. It was a good setting because it had some of the city skyline in the background, benches, dead trees, city decay, and obviously snow all around us. The temperature was probably in the 20′s and I had her prancing around in a mini dress and she was barefoot. She was a total trooper the whole time though and only started to feel the cold when her feet went numb.

My friends Joe and Jose came by to help out and take some behind the scene photos for me. Jose took all these photos and Joe helped me lug around the lights and be my test subject so I could get everything just right.

On a side note-I mainly shoot outdoors with natural light and rarely rely on using strobes with my shoots. My shoots rarely are over the top productions so I don’t really use any lighting but the big fireball in the sky. However, that limits what I plan on doing with my work so I wanted to have fun and try some new things. My good friends Amanda and Justin let me borrow their AlienBee ab800 and beauty dish to try out. I really enjoyed it and the results that I got from it.

Needless to say Philly spoils me.

She and I have a number of mutual friends and have crossed paths from time to time. We always talked about shooting together. We finally did it.

I wanted to go a different route than most of my work. I tried some new techniques and more conceptual ideas that I had in my head. I’m very pleased and happy with the outcome from today.

These are just some behind the scene shots taken by our good friend Nikki.

A good friend of mine, Tiffany Ann, shot some of her clothing so that also intrigued me some more. So after a few messages sent back and forth between Venomiss and I she sent me an amazing dress. There was some set backs and I could never get around to shooting the dress due to conflicting schedules with Jayne and I. So finally today we shot Jayne in the dress. Brittanny Taylor was kind enough to take some behind the scene shots for Jayne and myself.

She and I have worked before and have talked about collaborating on a number of up coming projects she has. She contacted me in early December about shooting her in some Mother of London clothing. Mother of London is out of this world alternative fashion. I thought to myself how could I not work with such a talented model and an amazing clothing designer?

I have never really shot in a studio and I don’t know much about lighting except working with natural lighting. So this opportunity was a huge one for myself and my work. I had to overcome my stubbornness with just working with natural lighting and embrace studio lighting. The experience was definitely educational and I learned a lot from the other photographers that were there as well.

The overall experience was memorable and I enjoyed every minute of it.
